Working at a music magazine was a dream come true. I started out as an intern at SPIN while in college. 10 months after graduation I was hired to work on promotional projects and ad production and help the editorial design department when needed. I was promoted Senior Graphic Designer in charge of the front and back of-the-book sections and the occasional feature as the schedule allowed. Initially I was using a design system created by the associate art director ("Flash"), then later with a system I designed under the art director's creative supervision ("Exposure") that included more charts and amorphic text arrangements. I commissioned illustration and acquired stock photography from record companies, stock houses and film production studios.
