Kā‘anapali Magazine

While working as the art director for Maui Nō ‘Oi magazine, the publisher added this title to their roster. I took on the role of art director. Since it relied mainly on repurposed content from Maui Nō ‘Oi and photography was partly provided by the resorts, the budget was small. A bi-annual, in-room publication, it promoted the Kā‘anapali Beach Resort Association's members which include most of the resort properties lining the popular west Maui beach, the golf course, and a handful of activity providers. I helped form the content of each issue with the editors and publisher. In some cases, stories and layouts were retro-fitted from Maui Nō ‘Oi. I assigned and edited photo shoots, created the resort map, and worked with the resort association to make sure their branding was carried through each issue. Printing on a 60# satin paper gave the title a luxurious hand-feel to appeal to the high-end guests. The magazine was designed with one serif and one sans serif font to keep it tied to the brand and facilitate ease of layout.
